The benefits of Colossus advanced scanning can be realised through using it as a product, or buying a Managed Service.
Colossus is a highly flexible system, which can be managed completely by yourselves in a couple different ways, or else it can be run as a managed service where we do all the work for you and deliver the reports.
Managed Service Benefits
When you use a Colossus Managed Service, you don't have to worry about doing any work, or getting configuration options correct. The tests will run as and when you require them, on a flexible basis, and you just receive the encrypted reports. Part of the benefit of the Managed Service approach is that the reports are frequently checked and issues validated as part of the service. If you have auditors, then subscribing to a Managed Service gives assurances of independent reporting. options for Managed Services are:
Self Managed Product, with license for regular scans If you prefer, you can run Colossus yourself, with full control over the features and function (PCI is an exception). You buy the number of credits you require, and pay not for the number of IPs you scan, but only hosts which are found to be alive and respond. You can scan ad-hoc systems as little or as often as your credits allow. You can buy more credits as you need and get immediate access to them.
The cost of this option is priced to make it more cost-effective for companies carrying out no more than one scan per month of their assets. If you need more frequent scans, such as performing ongoing remediation testing, look at the Unlimited Scanning opiton below
Self Managed Product - unlimited scans For slightly more outlay, you can scan your IP range as often as you like. Typically this makes sense if you have a network which is undergoing significant changes, or has a significant remediation project underway.
